Mobile apps are ready to move beyond networks

I was browsing through a variety of social network blogs and the MatchMobile site seemed to be the big news in the mobile world. The funny thing about all these mobile apps that are taking off is how dependant they are on the network operators.
The country to country, network operator to network operator just goes against the whole web 2.0 concept.
Where is the web in all these mobile web sites? Google and Sprint are doing some interesting stuff with WiMax that really seems to be bringing the mobile internet back into the public domain. Sprint may be seeing a something that other providers are just not getting. The gated networks help by operators is waiting to bust open.
We are working on a lot of new apps for Wadja Mobile and the XHTML browsers and WiFi support we are finding on all new handset models really screams out INNOVATION, regardless of location, network or handset!
The possibilities for apps that can take all the goodies that the web has to offer is right around the corner, all we are missing is affordable, and accessible, infrastructure. Google and Sprint, pushing into the WiMax space, is a bold move that means MatchMobile and other sites can look forward to a roll out that does not focus on country and network, but on services and features.
Is the real Mobile Web 2.0 on its way?
